Blast Prep Grind is a commercial and industrial concrete preparation and floor coatings contractor based in Newcastle, NSW, with more than ten years in the trade. We work across the Hunter Region, Central Coast and Sydney, for builders, head contractors, shopfitters, facility managers and property owners.

Shot blasting, diamond grinding and scarifying to the surface profile your coating specifies. We work to the CSP on the data sheet, not by eye.

In-situ wet pendulum testing to AS 4663, reported as P classifications and benchmarked against HB 198:2014. We can also treat and retest a floor that falls short.

the slab to
the finished floor

Flooring work often gets split across two or three trades — one strips the old covering, one preps the slab, another lays the finish. That works fine, but it leaves you coordinating the handovers and holding three separate quotes.

We do all three. The tiles come up, the slab is taken back to the profile the coating specifies, and the finish goes down, with the same team accountable for the lot. If the substrate turns out to be a problem, you hear about it while it can still be fixed rather than after the coating is down.

It also means our preparation gets the time it needs, because we're the ones who have to bond to it afterwards.

Who we
work with

We've been doing this for over ten years, and in that time we've worked for just about everyone involved in a floor. Builders and head contractors who need prep done properly before their applicator arrives. Shopfitters working to a handover date that won't move. Facility managers who need a floor replaced without closing the doors. And plenty of business owners who simply have a floor that isn't working and want someone to sort it out.

A lot of our work now comes from people we've worked with before, or from someone they've passed our number to. That tends to happen when you turn up when you said you would and leave the floor the way you said you'd leave it.

Whichever way you come to us, you get the same thing: We can hand the slab over at a specified profile for someone else to coat, or carry the job right through to the finished floor.

What areas do you service?

Newcastle and the Hunter Region are our core area, including Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Cessnock, Pokolbin and the Hunter Valley. We also work across the Central Coast, Port Stephens, up to Forster, and take project work in Sydney.

How long have you been operating?

More than ten years, working on commercial and industrial floors across Newcastle and the Hunter Region.

Can you work while our site is operating?

Usually. Dust extraction and work-area containment make it possible to work in occupied buildings, and much of our work runs at night, over weekends or during planned shutdowns.

How quickly can you get to site?

Do you provide quotes and site assessments?

Yes, and for most jobs we'd rather see the site than quote off a description. Send through the area, what's on the floor now, and what needs to go down.
